Early Childhood Education at Milton

Early Childhood education in the School District of Milton provides a play-based learning environment for our pre-4K students, fostering growth and development in a nurturing setting. Our program is designed to cater to the diverse needs of young children, ensuring that each child has the opportunity to thrive.

Our Early Childhood Education programs include Specialized Early Childhood Classes and our Pre-Flight Academy Playgroup.

Specialized Early Childhood Classes

Our Specialized Early Childhood classes are designed for children who have turned 3 years old and are not yet eligible for 4K. These classes focus on creating individualized learning plans that address specific developmental needs, helping children build essential skills in a supportive environment. Students enrolled have been identified through a specialized child find screening process.
Classes Schedule:
Tuesday, Thursday and Friday
AM Session 8:45-10:45 a.m.
PM Session: 1:30 to 3:30 p.m.

Pre-Flight Academy Playgroup

The Pre-Flight Academy Playgroup offers a rich learning experience for children ages 3 to 4, emphasizing play and literacy activities, fine and gross motor skill development, and language acquisition. Families with 3 and 4 year olds not enrolled in 4K may “enlist” their student through our online application. Class Schedule, “Flight Plan,” and sign-up available on the Lil’ Hawk Learners Pre-Flight Academy website.

  • Sessions: Monday and Wednesday from 9:00 – 10:30 AM
  • Session Dates:
    • Session 1: Sept 16 – Oct 23
    • Session 2: Nov 6 – Dec 18
    • Session 3: Jan 6 – Feb 19
    • Session 4: Mar 3 – Apr 16
    • Session 5: Apr 28 – May 28

Our playgroup curriculum is designed by the Milton School District Early Childhood staff and aligns with the Wisconsin Model Early Learning Standards (WMELS).

Early Child Find Screenings

The Early Childhood program regularly conducts Early Child Find Screenings throughout the school year. These screenings are for families who have concerns about their child’s development. The screenings help identify children who may need additional support, such as those with speech or motor skill delays.
