College and Career Readiness

The School District of Milton invests in curriculum, instruction, assessment and programming that builds students’ college and career readiness. Beyond traditional programming, the district supports School-to-Career (Youth Apprenticeship) programming, Academic and Career Plans, and Articulated Credit (Transcripted Credit and Advanced Standing) options.

ACT Aspire, ACT and ACT WorkKeys

The ACT Aspire, ACT, and ACT WorkKeys (used as the required state standardized assessments for studnets in Grades 9-11) measure students’ college and career readiness. The ACT College and Career Readiness Standards (CCRS) are the backbone of ACT assessments. Outlining essential skills and knowledge students need to become ready for college and career, the standards give clear meaning to test scores and serve as a link between what students have learned and what they are ready to learn next. Parents, teachers, counselors, and students have used the Standards to: a) communicate widely shared learning goals and expectations, b) relate test scores to the skills needed in high school and beyond, and c) understand the increasing complexity of skills needed across the score ranges in English, Mathematics, Reading, Science, and Writing.

Academic and Career Planning (ACP)

Academic and Career Planning, or ACP, is a student-driven, adult-supported process in which students create and cultivate their own unique and information-based visions for post secondary success, obtained through self-exploration, career exploration, and the development of career management and planning skills. More information will be provided as the district develops in ACP program.
