Welcome to Milton High School
Milton High School is a school of approximately one thousand one hundred students. Serving the student body and community are four administrators, 70 professional staff, one school nurse, 41 support staff, and one school resource officer. MHS also houses the district Technology Department, Milton Recreation Department, and Milton Food Service. The collective mission of the entire staff is to see every student graduate ready to meet their goals after high school, be it in a four year university, technical school, the armed forces, or preparation for a career. We are very proud of our school and community and all of the many great people who make it their purpose to serve our kids.
It is our desire at Milton High School to provide for and promote an exceptional educational experience, and to this end we appreciate parent and community input. MHS Opportunities
Our school emphasizes a quality education for all students, and provides opportunities for students to grow as individuals. Our curriculum pushes students with 12 Advanced Placement courses and 9 Transcripted Credit Courses with Blackhawk Technical College. A description of our full curriculum can be found in the Program of Studies Book – found on the Counseling Office tab of the website. This includes the full range of special education services and courses that are offered to support all segments of the student population. We encourage students to be well-rounded and active, hosting twenty men’s and women’s athletic teams and more than twenty co-curricular and extra-curricular clubs and organizations. These organizations include a student-run television station, two student publications, one of the largest FFA chapters in the state, and many more. We also boast a music program that has marching bands and show choirs who compete regionally and nationally. We encourage our students to become active in at least one of the many great activities.
MHS Achievements
The students of Milton High School are regularly recognized for their many achievements in both the academic, athletic and co-curricular fields. Milton High School consistently scores above the state average on standardized testing. In 2014, MHS had the highest ACT average in Rock County. Over 17% of our student body takes at least one Advanced Placement Exam.
MHS Community
Milton High School is part of a very rich and supportive community that works hard to make education a priority. One example of this is the high attendance and participation we experience in most all of the parent booster and support groups.
Profile and Professional Experience
It is an honor to have served my entire professional career in the School District of Milton. I received my undergraduate degree in history and secondary education from St. Norbert College in the spring of 1997 and started my teaching and coaching career at Milton High School that fall. I served in the social studies department for 11 years, teaching classes in history, government, and current and social issues. During that time, I also was an assistant coach on the varsity football team. I received my Masters of Science degree in Educational Administration from the University of Wisconsin Madison in 2002 and was given the privilege to be principal of MHS in the fall of 2008. My wife and I live in the Milton School District and have three sons who all attend, or have graduated from, Milton schools. We are very proud of the district and the education it is providing our children. I see my role as one that serves all the families of Milton High School and work to provide the kind of education I want for my children to all students in our school.
